They are a reputable partner that continuously assesses an organization’s most vital assets, saves time in the development lifecycle, and provides world-class cybersecurity consulting and assessments every step of the way — far beyond smart contracts.
Halborn was founded in 2019 by renowned ethical hacker Steven Walbroehl and growth hacker Rob Behnke. The fully remote organization has since grown to include over 100 of the best and brightest offensive security engineers in the world. Their team is 100% remote and diverse and based in New York, Miami, Spain, Peru, Turkey, Hungary, India, Poland, France, and many more.
Halborn Auditing Techniques Explained
The audit process begins with code preparation and initiating a code freeze to guarantee the accuracy of the results. We supplied documentation and code tests to help Halborn conduct their review. The audit involved a manual, line-by-line review of the logic, unit, and integration tests and a unique testing system called Slither was run against the contracts. Slither can statically verify mathematical relationships between Solidity variables to detect invalid or inconsistent usage of the contracts' APIs across the entire code base.
Audit Results
The smart contracts underpinning Rover’s Wrapped Tokens have successfully completed a rigorous security audit by Halborn. The audit found no high or critical vulnerabilities, and the Halborn team actively identified potential risks leading up to the launch of Rover’s Wrapped Tokens. Their efforts enhance our continuous integration and continuous deployment pipeline.
David Mass, Co-Founder of Rover, states, “Rover partnered with Halborn to assess the smart contracts underlying our upcoming rovBTC Tokens. The team conducted an extensive code review and audit without incident. We take auditing seriously, and Halborn's expertise helps us release products that prioritize security. We have conducted several other audits, with Halborn being the final one of this round. We look forward to continuing our partnership in the future."
At Rover, security is a top priority. While Rover's smart contract components maintain simplicity, our emphasis on auditing remains intact.
Reassuringly, the Halborn security assessment did not uncover any critical security issues.

We’re One Step Closer to Mainnet
Our third audit, conducted by Halborn, marks an accomplishment and an evolution of the codebase. The first audit with Trail of Bits primarily checked that the core contracts were solid and safe to build on. The Zellic audit ensures that you, the user, are protected and enjoy a seamless experience once we launch on mainnet. Lastly, the Halborn audit put the code to the test to find any remaining bugs or fixes to the functionality before the launch.
In Summary
We recognize that choosing to liquid-stake your BTC can be daunting in the fast-changing world of DeFi. However, Rover’s commitment to secure smart contracts and numerous third-party security audits make us a promising avenue for stakers seeking yield while securely contributing to the OG chain’s health.
